Jill Farren Phelps, AKA: Typhoid Mary strikes again! The failed executive producer of CBS’s number-one daytime drama is in the process of pushing Emmy Award-winning actor David Tom out of his job in the role of Billy Abbott. Firing Phelps hired David Tom in November 2013, to return to the show in the role he departed to stretch his acting muscles outside of Daytime TV.
Phelps was forced to recast the role of Billy Abbott, after she failed miserably in a “phony” bid to keep Billy Miller on the show’s canvas. The truth is, Miller wasn’t a (FOJ’s), you know, Friend of Jill’s, so she made no concessions and arrogantly just barreled down the highway to hell and back, and fans were devastated to see Miller leave. And will be equally as mystified when Tom is pushed out. He’s currently unaware of her plans, but our sources confirm it’s in the works.JillFarrenPhelps
David Tom is a terrific actor, and his upcoming departure is not his fault. Surely Jill is busy trying to find a “media” outlet that will somehow find blame with this actor, as they do with every single person Jill fires, and defends her lack-of-talent every time she fails miserably as EP of any show. From “Another World,” “Santa Barbara,” to “One Life to Live,” “Guiding Light,” she destroyed. Not to mention despite her token media outlet praising her skills, she failed so badly at ABC, that “General Hospital” almost went off the air after almost 50-years, and thanks in no small part to Katie Couric asking ABC to keep “GH” as her highest-rated possible lead in, and now her hack-skills are at work on Bill Bell’s “The Young and the Restless.” Phelps is at it again. Maybe fans can save Tom’s job, though Phelps rarely listens to them or even cares what they think.

After leaving previously, Y&R, Tom — the brother of five-time Daytime Emmy-winner Heather Tom (Katie, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Victoria, Y&R) — has appeared on All My Children (as Paul Cramer), Veronica Mars and episodes of CSI, 90210 and Criminal Minds.
A source close to Jill Farren Phelps tells us, “She is in a state of disarray right now. She knows her job is on the line, so she’s desperate to get ratings up. No one is safe.”
If there’s any good news in this story, it’s that Firing Phelps has run out of places to go, and this will most likely be her last hurrah! She better not kill off another Abbott!
